When creating Salt & Acres- we knew we were going to mix a couple different design styles to achieve our desired look. We choose to take pieces of art deco and traditional style and blend it with some modern farmhouse touches. Our goal was to mix luxury with farm- think of it as the boujee acers!
Let’s learn a little bit about the three design styles we loved:
ART DECO
Art Deco, short for Arts Décoratifs, is characterized by rich colors, bold geometry, and decadent detail work. Having reached the height of its popularity in the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s, the style still brings in glamour, luxury, and order with symmetrical designs in exuberant shapes
TRADITIONAL
Traditional style often includes silk, linen and velvet upholstery and window coverings in damask, florals, stripes and plaids with ornately detailed dark wood, inspired by 18th and 19th century designs. Layered in color and texture, traditional style interiors bring a sense of history and glamour to a space. Some traditional design inspo-
MODERN FARMHOUSE
Modern farmhouse design takes the comfortable, relaxed farmhouse style and adds modern touches such as smooth lines, glossy accents and neutral color schemes. It’s less rustic, more sophisticated and uses contemporary design elements like stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and sleek lighting. Magnolia Press in Waco, Texas does an amazing job capitalizing, or should we say, creating this design style.
DESIGN BOARD
Now let’s look at our design board. This is where we sourced and pieced together the pieces that we felt would combine all three of our design inspirations together seamlessly. Remember that design style can be yours- you don’t have to stick within the lines on a specific design style. My design style focuses on bringing in different textures and balancing the colors and textures across the space.

When sourcing furniture we worked with Arhaus & Restoration Hardware for all of our furniture pieces. For decor pieces and glassware- I feel in love with CB2 to add in our art deco/modern accents. All three of these stores came together to create the signature look we call The Tasting Room at Salt & Acres.
