Ingredients
16 Medjool dates (pitted)
1/2 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference)
8 slices bacon (cut in half)
1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking sausage)
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Dates:
Use a sharp knife to carefully slit each date lengthwise and remove the pit. Set the dates aside.
Stuff the Dates:
Take a spoonful of the raw sausage and stuff it into each date, pressing it in gently.
Wrap the Dates in Bacon:
Wrap each stuffed date with a half slice of bacon, securing it with a toothpick to hold everything in place. Repeat with all the dates.
Cook the Bacon-Wrapped Dates:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the bacon-wrapped dates on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack for better air circulation. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and browned, turning the dates halfway through for even cooking.
Serve:
Once the dates are cooked, remove them from the oven and allow them to rest for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm.
